The Wii Zapper is a really fun and neat addition to the Wii console. It's a comfortable accessory at best. Link's Crossbow Training, the game that comes with the zapper, is high-paced and action-packed and provides a good challenge rewarding you with medals and new levels as you get better in the training.
With that said, I must express that it is frustrating to use, at least at first. There are no sites on the gun so aiming accurately with the gun is a real pain. I ended up having to watch the reticule on the screen while aiming the gun, which made me feel like that defeated the whole purpose of even having the gun-like apparatus in the first place. This sort of took away from the experience of feeling like I was actually wielding a real gun, or Link's crossbow. The game that came with the gun, Link's Crossbow Training, compliments the zapper well. It has many different senarios that put you in Link's shoes as a crossbow marksman. The game consists of an array of challenges from shooting standing targets to mowing down hordes of evil skeleton warriors. There is a setting on the game that you can use to adjust the height of the reticule from the front of the gun. My only suggestion would be to be able to lower the reticule a little further down than the setting allows. That would probably help compensate for the lack of gun sites. There are some stages of the game that make you move Link as you shoot in 3rd person view. This is cool in theory, but makes for difficult game play only because the reticule on the screen is not locked in place. To make Link look around you have to move the cursor to the edge of the screen like you're nudging it to where you want Link to look, then readjust your aim again. I think it would feel more nature to have the reticule locked in place in the center of the screen and where ever you would point, that's where you would look. Despite the bad points, the Wii Zapper is really cool and cheap too. It'll run you about $19.99. And the game that comes with it makes it worth a try and is tailored for use with the zapper. Replay value is good. It's really fun, but can be frustrating at times. Maybe that's what makes a good game, can't say the same for accessories though. I hope that Nintendo or other game makers can make some tweeks to the games that require the use of the zapper or maybe even developing another version of the Wii Zapper with sites for accurate aiming ability. That would help alot. |

**One addition for this review. If you bought the Wii Remote charger, it comes with two rechargeable battery packs and two special battery covers that are specifically designed for use with the battery packs. If installed onto your Wii Remote, your remote won't fit into the Wii Zapper. It'll fit, but it won't lock into place and be secure.
