The Half-Life game editor, Hammer, is a great way to create your own video games and game mods.
Has anyone ever tried to use Hammer? If so, share some resources and your experiences here. Web Admin web@houmatoday.com |

I am currently learning how to mod Half-Life 2 and I just recently learned how to get my own custom texture into the game. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get my models and animations in the game as well.
A good book I can recommend is "Half Life 2 Mods For Dummies". It's good for beginners and people who are experienced in modding games. Lot's of cool tips and tricks too. The only drawback is that it covers custom textures but not custom models or animations. Another book that's out, I think, is "Mapping and Modding Half-Life 2 Complete, by Tim Holt". Although it looks like a super good book for HL2 modding, I have trouble finding a copy of it. I read mixed reviews saying that some have bought copies without trouble and some people have never received their copy because it went out of print. I haven't a clue where to successfully find this book, but I've been waiting for it to come out for a while. So if anyone has any ideas or knowledge of this, I'd appreciate the feedback on it. |
